I have 15 years experience in planning and managing humanitarian assistance, building on a 12-year background in national civil protection in Germany. I have worked extensively in national disaster response, and international humanitarian response, recovery, and resilience building programs. My current professional focus is on strategic planning, results-based management, and the monitoring of aid. I also have a particular interest in how traditional aid systems can support disaster risk reduction approaches.
Monitoring & Evaluation M&E

I am very experienced in aid monitoring, and have particular and unique experience in establishing and improving monitoring systems in hard-to-access areas. With ►Remote Monitoring a particular line of interest that I pursue, I work with organizations to strengthen the reliability of M&E systems.
Results-Based Aid Systems

With a strong foundation in evidence-based program planning, and in-depth experience of managing results in difficult environments, I strengthen Results Based Management (RBM) in aid systems. I am also the co-owner of a professional group on LinkedIn on ► RBM.
Disaster Risk Reduction DRR

I have worked with government and civil society to strengthen disaster preparedness, complementing my civil protection experience. With the global drive for disaster risk reduction I have a particular interest in a holistic approach to strengthen people's resilience to survive and their capacity to respond to disasters.
Aid Coordination

Following extensive experience in sector coordination I was part of the first IASC cluster pilots and have seen the cluster system evolve. I have also worked in key functions in UN coordination, both regular and humanitarian, which gives me a thorough understanding of the mechanics of aid coordination.
Risk Management

I have successfully introduced and supported risk management approaches in humanitarian operations, with a particular focus on partnership management. I am specifically experienced and interested in innovative verification and due diligence approaches in hard-to-reach areas.
Knowledge Management IKM

Knowledge and Information Management is at the core of all management systems. I have worked extensively on strengthening Information and Knowledge Management systems in support of improved performance and better accountability both to beneficiaries and to donors.
